Creating an orginal mosaic
Tile by tile, Artist Wick Alexander recreates the California Tower in Balboa Park, originally designed for the 1915 Exposition by the famous American architect Bertram G. Goodhue. -
Working on the Hotel Del
One of the greatest benefits of the LithoMosaic™process is that the entire mosaic can be previewed by both artist and client prior to installation.
-
Loading the panels
After the final assembly, the artist and T.B. Penick crews carefully load the panels for transportation to the jobsite.
-
Sitework begins
Using the patented Lithocrete® system, site work involves subgrade preparation, as well as formwork and reinforcement, prior to the final concrete placement and finishing.
-
Site assembly
The final site assembly includes patented chemicals worked in with the concrete to ensure proper tile adhesion. T.B. Penick workers conducted the pour in three phases to allow for precise quality control.
-
Attention to detail
The site craftsmen pay careful attention to detail to ensure a successful installation.
