Patton Park
Located in Echo Park, a dense neighborhood on the edge of downtown Los Angeles, the Patton Street Park and Community Garden Project is a .4-acre site adjacent to a City of Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Community Center. As there are many families with small children who have no place within walking distance to play, the development of this park meets a huge demand for outdoor open space and play areas in the neighborhood. The park now features a playground, fitness equipment, and small picnic area and community garden. The project is a partnership between The Trust for Public Land and the City of Los Angeles Recreation and Parks. -
Carlton Way
The site is long and narrow, wedged within a tight neighborhood of working families, art aficionados, actors and homeless teens. Arts and Crafts homes are to the left of the park, 60’s classic LA apartments to the right of it. And down the street, leading to the fame, tourists and excitement of Hollywood Boulevard, are lines of statuesque Washingtonia palm trees – hundreds of feet tall. Carlton Way is a side street, set in the midst of one of the most creative and vibrant urban centers of all time. Hollywood and LA are defining moments in the cultural significance of California, the US, and the world in the 20th century. Richard Neutra built early and iconic modernist homes in this neighborhood, Ed Reusche documented with deadpan art photographs, the apartment buildings and gas stations, Lucile Ball and Ronald Reagan made their literal marks here – with their stars on the boulevard. Wealthy Hollywood-types commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to build their mansions in Barnsdall Park, and the community filled with the dreamers from all over the world hoping to contribute to the general and overall urban creative energy. -
Irwindale Goldline Extension
August 28, 2015 Three hundred people come out for the pre-opening of the Irwindale light rail station on the Foothill line in LA. Set up under the overpass, all the partying and speeches were fun and breezy even though the temperature was 107! Because of the superb video that came out that morning about the art that I made for the station, everyone recognized me... a surprise and a treat. Good job FTA - and thank you. Ten years in the making, this was the first big project that approved LithoMosaic and was to be the first install. Ah well, a decade later is just as good. (Icons of San Diego turned out to be the first...) -
Pioneer Modernism Park - Lemon Grove - 2014
The theme of the artwork is yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Lemon Grove is proud of their past and also looking forward to a sustainable future. Three upright sculptures – a 32 foot windmill, an 18 foot solar tree, and an artist-enhanced wind turbine combine to reinforce the character of Lemon Grove. The linear park is adjacent to the busy trolley platform and is the front porch of Lemon Grove. Other items include a tractor/slide, three LithoMosaic plazas, and concrete replicas of historic lemon crates. -

Dana Headlands
Integrated Design Studio drew inspiration from the bluffs and chose Lithocrete® by T.B. Penick to complement the ocean view. The Strand Vista project features Lithomosaic fish instead in laser cut metal frames created by artist Wick Alexander. Sixty-eight fish of eight different species native to area including marlin, crabs and garibaldi are represented in the paving. Gradations in color representing different ocean depths on the Lithocrete glass finish were created using a variety of blue glass. Aggregate and shells were utilized to create the beach and sand finishes. All of these materials were poured monolithically. -
